Which Trametes?

Am having problems sorting out which Trametes this is:




The bracket was growing on an old Birch stump, and extended about 50mm out. Context about 4mm max in depth and pore layer a similar 4mm max. depth.



The upper surface was very finely pubescent:


I was coming down to either Trametes pubescens or Trametes ochracea (multicolor). The only ref. material I have to hand is Fungi of Switzerland and following that I was leaning toward Trametes pubescens on the basis of not being able to see an orange brown layer under the hairs on the upper surface which it describes as a character of T.ochracea.

The dimensions seem a little large for T.pubescens though and the spores don't look right either for T.pubescens, being rather thicker than suggested and seem more like the dimensions quoted for T.ochracea.



All in all I've ended going round in circles and would appreciate a nudge in the right direction if possible.

Are Trametes hirsuta and Trametes pubescens two synonyms of just one species? Trametes hirsuta was my initial thought, but with no literature to hand, I'd not be so sure of that!

I didn't think it was hirsute enough to be hirsuta - using the key in Fungi of Switzerland - having to decide between

Pileal surface coarsely hispid-pilose

and

Pileal surface densely tomentose

was difficult without knowing examples to relate to! Perhaps they could describe it terms of how many days stubble - is densely tomentose one day without shaving and coarsely hispid-pilose a week?

The spores didn't seem right either, these (5.4-6.1 x 2.5-3.3) are a both shorter and wider than the figures in FoS for hirsuta (6-7.5 x 1.5-2.5).
