Annulohypoxylon multiforme

I think this is Annulohypoxylon multiforme, evrything seems to fit except the host. I don't think it is a Betula species as it is in an area of woodland on Limestone and the soil is not really acid enough for Birch - plus the fact there aren't any living birch in the vicinity. There were some Grey Alder that were felled a few years back and it could on some debris from then and there are still lots of Ash, Sycamore and Beech. Is there anything else it could be that I've ignored?



Spores 9.9-11µ x 4.1-4.9µ - flattened on one side and with germination cleft.

there are Yorkshire records on Quercus, Fagus, Prunus padus, Alnus glutinosa, Crataegus, Aesculus, Acer pseudoplatanus, Corylus and Ulmus

so I wouldn't let substrate put you off!
