Help with fungus ID

This is another try. The picture has gone in but I have no idea where it is. It is a fungus I have not seen in the Gallery.

This is a PS It is in a hollow, protected from light and rain and with plenty of rotting apple wood to feed on. The beech leaves should give scale. It doesn't look like a crust to me. I have loads of these in the garden. They are brittle looking and lie on or beneath the branches as if they were stuck there. This one has what look like verticle ridges which could be fruiting bodies, in very regimented tiers. Sorry I can't get a closer picture.The wire is in the way.

not the reply you are wanting, but this is imo, frankly, impossible to identify on what you are able to post

this is not in any way a criticism of your photographic or descriptive skills, but when you get to these encrusting resupinate fruit-bodies/mycelial growth it's difficult enough when you have the fungus in front of you and the microscope set up ready and waiting, and all the right stains ready to go with . . .

and even if you had spotted something in the Gallery which looked like this, it might have led you to something very different - and totally wrong . . .
