Fungi ID. Small white blobs on black stalks

Can anyone help with the ID of this fungi please.

Taken on 14/02/2010 on fallen oak, in oak/birch woodland.

My best gess would be a slime mold (myxomycete).
Possiby Hemitrichia calyculata or close relative.
A follow up photo 24 hrs later would have been very
interesting as they mature quickly and would likely be
a very different colour.
