| | tiny white parachute/agaric? Help!
This pure white beauty was discovered today under rotting Willow where bark had peeled back.
Very tiny, pinhead size cap, with I think I can see decurrent gills, quite distant, with a slightly fibrillose stem.
Marasmiuellus maybe, possibly Delicatula integrella? (some hope!)
Sorry, it was tough to photograph.
Grateful for any help from anyone of our fungi people out of hibernation.
Cheers
Ken

Delicatula integrella may be, Marasmius not very likely. The Marasmius which look like this grow on leaves, not on wood. Marasmiellus - don't think so. But Hemiycena would be a choice, in my opinion even more likely then Delicatula.
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: tiny white parachute/agaric? Following on from Andreas, Hemimycena tortuosa is not uncommon though you'll need a microscope to be sure. It usually (always?) has tiny clear fluid droplets on the stem. Are those droplets on the stems in the photo? |

| | | Re: tiny white parachute/agaric? Thanks Andreas and Leif, certainly it looks very close to H tortuosa, no drops though and I cant find a description of the gills, seem a bit too decurrent maybe?
Bioimages has a few pics without droplets, but with more adnate gills than mine.
So I agree with a very good steer for Hemimycena, probably tortuosa, but leave at spp I suspect is more accurate...................... without good old microscopy!
Thats another first for me anyway.
Cheers
Ken

They are more decurrent than the ones I have seen, and according to Funga Nordica, gills are adnexed-adnate, which would rule it out. H. cephalotricha has adnate-decurrent gills according to Funga Nordica, and is mainly found on Oak. I have never seen it, so I cannot comment. |

| | | Re: tiny white parachute/agaric? It looks very similar to some tiny specimens I collected yesterday from the underneath the bark of an Oak Log. I have not been able to name this one either.

| | | Re: tiny white parachute/agaric? Yes they do look similar Peter, mine have some gnawing away of part of the cap, but other than that.............
The local fungi group were of the hemimycena view too, but species?
Hmmmmmmmm
Cheers
