| | | Re: three fungi photos for ID please not too sure about the other ones but the big white one on the left of the top photo looks like it is Amanita Strobiliformis. Not too sure but looks similar to 1 i found a few weeks ago.

I'd agree with Nick, but the gills don't seem white. If so, we turn to Agaricus. It could be A. augustus for the white scaly stem. It's possible that the two light brownish 'eggs' on the right might be something different; I've often seen completely different species growning side by side and even touching! It would be a lot easier if the specimens were bigger and open.
The last one could be Tricholoma fulvum, especially if (as it seems to me) the cap margin is ribbed. |

| | | Re: three fungi photos for ID please So, with white gills, Nick's ID could very well be correct. It would help if the stipe base were intact... |

| | | Re: three fungi photos for ID please Hi Cherry!
A stipe is the stem, the 'leg' of a mushroom.
If we want to take the whole mushroom out of the ground, so that we don't miss the base or a volva that might surround it, we should stick a finger (index finger probably) into the soil right beside it and try to get the fingertip right under the stipe base. We then push the mushroom upwards till we get it out. Of course, we should not do this with every mushroom we find, especially in overpicked areas. However, not much harm will have been done if we take care to cover the remaining mycelium with soil, so that it does not get dry. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
