Unidentified fungus growing on dead tree trunk
Is this fungus which I found today Velvet Shank, Flammularia velutipes? Tentative ID from Phillips' 'Mushrooms'. Is there anything else it could be confused withjavascript:void(0)? Thanks for your help. I am a fungus novice.

Looking at your photo in the Image Library, I think you are spot on with that identification.

EDIT - (Just in case anyone decides to shoot me down) I did notice the typo in the Latin spelling, but you have it exactly right as Flammulina, on the tags to your image.
