it is a Suillus, but bovinus is not possible due to the punctation at the stipe apex. It is very probably the mediterranean version of Suillus granulatus, called Suillus mediterraneensis (Jacquet. & J. Blum) Redeuilh.

Andreas | Oh well, at least I was in the right genus  . I'd assumed that that was maggot damage at the top of the stipe  .
