| | Help with ID please This first one was taken this week in woodland (mostly oak, but also beech) near my home where the local council keep trees in order by lopping and felling some. This was on a lopped log and they appear to be new growth, the largest approx 1" in diameter and look velvety
The next ones were taken at a picnic area in the Towy Valley, West Wales last Sat. im mixed woodland
The smaller brown ones appeared to be developing pleated caps
Help with ID please?
Thanks |

| | | Re: Help with ID please Hello Eiona,
Your first is probably Flamulina velutipes (Velvet Shank).
I can clearly see white spore deposits on the smaller fungi, the habit of growth is right, and time of year is right, but it looks like they have started to dry up a bit.
Your other 3 photos all seem to show Laccaria laccata (the Deceiver) at different stages of growth.
