So many questions from today’s walk:
We have an area of gorse cut back that was recently covered with snow. The same species: Tubaria furfurace, Flammulina velutipes have survived at this locale without any noticeable degradation. Do these species have a natural antifreeze to enable them to survive during this season? I have also photographed Auricularia-judae covered with snow and ice so must have same properties.
1. Strange fungi growing on gorse branch. . I wonder whether this may be Stereum gausapatum?
2. I am unclear at this stage whether this is Calocera pallidospathulata, Calocera cornea or Calocera glossoides. The photograph is overexposed due to flash. The fruiting bodies were opaque to yellow in natural light, so I am opting for the former?
3. A small fungi; around 3 cm in length on twig from unidentified tree (sorry – I read that you aren’t miracle workers!). I wondered whether this could be Merulius tremellosus?
4. Is this White Brain Fungus - Exidia thuretiana?
5. Is this Yellow Brain fungus relative - Tremella lutescens?
Both species growing on same tree – Elder
