| | | Re: Exidia? Unless side by side, I find separating E.nucleata from E.thuretiana in the field difficult if you cannot clearly see the white crystals inside.
Even though the 'blob' at the top seems to show a tiny white crystal inside, I'm going to go against my better judgement and say this looks like E.thuretiana to me.
The wood does look like Elder.

| | | Re: Exidia? There are a couple of spots that look like nodules, but they're not clear enough to be sure. I suspect it's too far past it for certainty.
