| | | Fungus on Dying Elm A bit of a long shot.
Any ideas on possibilities for a fungus growing on dying elm. Trees were being felled last week in a Dutch Elm Disease control area and immediately burnt so no photos and I didn't get much of a look.
Growing on the trunk, yellowish/brown, clusters of 5-20 fruits each about 1cm diameter. Gills looked similar colour but not like Sulphur Tuft. No evidence of black bootlace under the trunk.
TIA |

| | | Re: Fungus on Dying Elm Sounds like Velvet Shank to me, except the gills should be white, although when mature they turn dirty yellow.
Neil.
Edit. 1 cm caps are small, but they could be young clumps, but when young the gills should be white. ?

| | | Re: Fungus on Dying Elm Fairplay,
Thanks. I think you are right. The new Roger Phillips says pale yellow gills.
It was also very wet which probably had an influence on colour. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
