| | | Crusts and caps At least its not too frozen in the woods, so here are a few more from yesterday (though the various crustose twig lichens will probably stay forever un-identified! )
Q1. In mixed deciduous woodland
Q2. On willow. I tried getting a spore print last night but nothing!
Q3. Don't know how this one escaped getting frozen but it was tucked in among moss on (I think) an Oak branch
Q4. From October in upland grassland grazed by cattle
Q5. On dead Oak - Trametes versicolor?
Thanks in advance,
Jenny |

| | | Re: Crusts and caps Hello Jenny,
1. Skeletocutis nivea in my opinion. Very tiny, pure white pores, nearly resupinate fruitbody, the cap surface reddish-brown
2. Spongiporus subcaesius
3. May be Mycena galericulata
4. A Psathyrella species
5. yes, Trametes versicolor
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: Crusts and caps Thank you Andreas.
I'd wondered about Skeletocutis for the first but I didn't have a clue about possible look-a-likes. |

| | | Re: Crusts and caps In Britain, Spongiporus subcaesius is known as Postia subcaesia just in case anyone is having difficulty looking this up.

| | | Re: Crusts and caps Hi,
I'd prefer Postia too, but they don't let me here in Germany
Oligoporus subcaesius is another quite widespread alternative ...
best regards,
Andreas
