Help identifying fungi please

HI. I am trying to identify a few pictures of fungi I have taken over the past year or two. I have looked at some web sites and browsed the Gallery pics but am still struggling to identify a few.

The first was taken near Linhope Spout in October. It was quite large (about 4" across).

The second was taken at Martin Mere in November; it was growing out of an old stump on the bank beside the path. The cap was about 2" across.

Third taken in the woods at Yellowcraig on October. About 4" across.

Last taken at Black Rock Gorge in October, the largest being about 2" high.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Phil,

Your No 1. looks like an old Boletus edulis, but before I enlarged it I thought Gyroporus castaneus.
No 2. Unsure.
No 3. if the wood is Blackthorn, then this is Phellinus pomaceus, but something doesn't quite look right.
No 4. I think these are known as Angels Wings, Pleurocybella porrigens.

EDIT - keep an eye on that Phellinus as it could turn out to be something a bit more scarce if the wood is not Blackthorn.

Hi Neil,
Thanks for the reply, I've now looked at several sites and can see 1 and 4. Unfortunately I didn't get any more pics of the fungus in the third image, but looking at other photos I took in the area there is Blackthorn (and Birch). Unfortunately I live in Staffs so can't get back for a better look...:-)
