| | | Just to say thank you .. I would just like to pass on my thanks to the members of this forum for your help and patience when dealing with fungi numpties like me. I have learnt a lot (and made many mistakes) since my first post in August.
It really all came about following a chance meeting with John (FungiJohn) in Clumber and thereafter. I had a passing interest from a photographic point of view but not much idea about what I was photographing. John invited me along to the Clumber foray and I learnt a lot there which piqued my interest even more.
My photography skills have improved as result but my knowledge seems to be trailing behind, maybe a New Years resolution is needed, but probably not as I never keep them
I am hoping to use the information provided and put into practice some of the knowledge gleaned when I go for a more "fungi focussed" wander through the local woodland. I must put together a checklist of information to collect on a foray because the memory aint what it used to be.
So thanks all for your help so far, I won't put up a list of names (so many and don't want to offend those missed) and wish you all the best for the festive season.
Regards, John |

Regards, John | Hello John
Good to see that your interest in fungi has grown into a ‘full time’ occupation!
Les and I foray every weekend throughout the year and you are very welcome to join us if you wish.
We have moved away from Clumber Park and are now looking at Sherwood Pines as our main survey area. It was, until the recent snow fall showing some very interesting species!
I should point out that John and I know each other from a time before WAB in another subject area where John taught me well! So if I can help in any way it would be a pleasure.
Best Wishes to everyone - John
PS only 3 months to the Morel season!!! |

By hook or by crook I'm coming over for 'morel season' this next time John - thats if I'm invited and I promise not to eat any or tell where they are but please show me some this time - I've got serious withdrawel symptoms and you don't want me 'planting' anymore (from Sainsbury's) in my back lawn do you - its such deviant behaviour

| | | Re: Just to say thank you .. Hi John,
It's great to have you aboard WAB, and even more so as a fungi forum inhabitant It's strangely addictive isn't it? But it's so satisfying wandering through the woodlands thinking "I know what that is, I know what family it comes from, I know what would happen if I put it in my Mother In Law's soup."
Good to meet you at Clumber, and I'm sure that if your passion burns as warm next year, we'll all meet again at Clumber 2010!
Hope you have a good Christmas mate!
