| | | Myxo for ID please Sherwood Pines, Notts 12/13 December 2009
Found during a foray with FungiJohn in woodland that just keeps producing exciting finds.
Myxo growing on bark, taken about 24 hours apart over the weekend.
Although the fungi has been plentiful, we have not noticed much Myxo about so far this autumn. Perhaps due to the lack of really well rotted wood as it is a managed woodland.
Your help with an ID on this one would be appreciated.
Les & John

Fungi John posted a photo of a very similar myxo in the ' Gallery' as Didymium squamulosum. This photo is at:

Les & John | Depends on what the wood is managed for, I help manage a wood for shooting to take place, which means (unfortunately)the removal of dead wood and low branches which would be hazardous to the guns, but I am able to make these into log piles and leave some low branches for the birds to roost/perch on.
Another wood, I managed purely for conservation and left all wood where it fell apart from keeping tracks clear.
