| | | Help with id please Hi all,
I've had this photo for a while now and I would really like to find out what it is.
If anyone can help with the id I would appreciate it.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards

| | | Re: Help with id please Hello David,
this is a Leccinum species and in former times it would have recieved the name Leccinum scabrum. Just because all brown capped Leccini have been called L. scabrum once. Nowadays there are many species in this group, and without further notes as e.g. the changing of the flesh when exposed to the air, the colours of the stem base, and also microscopical details (cap surface) are used to separate species.
So what I want to tell is, that it will hardly be possible to give it a species name, but has to be left as "belonging to the L. scabrum complex", in my opinion. It has good chances to be still L. scabrum in the todays resticted sense.
best regards,
Andreas

Thank you for your detailed response to my question but unfortunately I do not have any further information about this fungi as it was photographed 2 years ago.
I will be more than happy to record it as "belonging to the L. scabrum complex".
Best Regards
