| | | Re: Can anyone id these please Hi Nutz.
The first might be Tricholomopsis rutilans but a gill shot would be nice.
Second is Xylaria hypoxylon.
Cheers, Nick. |

It is possible you may have Gymnopilus dilepis a recent discovery to Britain more at home on woodchips, but I can see no reason why it should not be established now on logs - perhaps it is.
However, your photo does look more like good old 'Plumbs & Custard' so that's what it's gonna be 4 me. See ?

| | | Re: Can anyone id these please Welcome to WAB Woodwoman,
I would assume if Fistulina hepatica (Beefsteak) is in your fungus book, then also Tricholomopsis rutilans (Plumbs & Custard) probably is as well, and if so, why have you discounted T.rutilans in favour of F.hepatica ?
Or did you just add this as a footnote ?

| | | Re: Can anyone id these please yes, i really cant tell what it is but i found a plums and custard a few weeks ago and it looked quite different, however it was certainly younger than the specimines shown above. |

| | | Re: Can anyone id these please A little clue, pretend the photo is a square clock, where 12 o'clock would be, right on the top edge of the top mushroom, you should be able to see a row of 5 tiny teeth pointing upward, - these are where the gills are protruding slightly beyond the cap edge.
But the cap surface alone would normally be sufficient to tell this was Pl & Cu.
