| | | Coprinus picaceus I was out wandering in my local woods and came across these. I have never seen such large, robust specimens as these before.
I just had to share a couple of pics with you fellow fungiphiles.
Hope you like them .

| | | Re: Coprinus picaceus One of my favourites and fortunately I have a patch in Minley Wood that produces regularly, but only a handful of fruitbodies each year and you've go to be on the ball to catch them. Having said that I do note they are appearing with some predictability (2nd week of October for the last 3 years) even if somewhat ephemeral by nature.

| | | Re: Coprinus picaceus Here's a couple more of the same patch for you to salivate over
I was actually out foraging for Crab apples , that's what's in the bag in the background. (I will be making some crab apple jelly tonight )
These fungi were right beside the path which you can see behind the tree. I'm surprised the local kids have'nt kicked them all to blazes.

This is a fungus I have never found. I would love to find one specimen, but all those. I would be over the moon!

Peter | There are usually loads in my local woods, but this is the first time I've seen them like this. I've also noticed that they always appear fairly late in the year. These photos were taken yesterday, 10.12.09.
