| | | Four for ID please Watcha all.
A few from this morning (yesterday)..
OK so I know what the ones on the right are, but what about the others?
Never really know where to start on these little bracket jobbies. Trametes spp.? brackets about 4cm, you can't see the underside well, but it's made up of fine pores.
I'm hoping this is a wee Hericium cirrhatum about 5cm on birch.
And a quick Mycena to keep Mal occupied not even gonna bother guessing 'cause I always get them wrong
Cheers, Nick. |

| | | Re: Four for ID please in the first picture i think the ones on the right (the lighter ones) are the H. fasciculare, the wet looking orange ones are what i think is Flammulina velutipes
as for the others, no clue!
sorry just re-read, i thought you said you wanted to know what the ones on the right were. haha oops |

For some unknown reason I've never found F.velutipes before. They really are like little flames aren't they! |

| | | Re: Four for ID please they're pretty cool yes. i decided to read up a bit about them and found out that 'enoki', the cultivated asian mushrooms, are F.velutipes grown in the dark in high CO2 conditions. i never knew that! |

| | | Re: Four for ID please Hello Nick,
the Trametes should be T. versicolor only. A little bit aged and beset with algae.
The Creolophus is dubious to me. I think it is more likely a Polypore. Creolophus has thorn-like outgrowth irregularily on the upper surface, but not such a hairy surface. Also I have never heard that it occurs on birch, and lastely I can not see teeth on the underside, it looks more like daedaloid-irpicoid pores. May be it is a Tyromyces (tephroleucus?)?
The Mycena I have no idea of.
best regards,
Andreas

If you didn't collect it then M inclinata.
Did you notice any colour on the gill edge? If you collected it then there is an outside chance it could be M renati .

I swear at the time I was looking at teeth, but you've put a big doubt in my mind now.... According to the British checklist and Jordan it's been recorded on birch in the UK.
Well I'm going back to check tomorrow to make sure and maybe I'll be able to get a better photo if the deer/frost/squirrels haven't had it.
Maybe those Mycenas will still be there too Mal
Much appreciated as always, Nick. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
