Another unidentified bracket

Found this very striking specimen growing on a cut log of Scots Pine. Unfortunately the microscopy was less than useful - it's not sporulating so no spores, no basidia or cystidia. There didn't seem to be any setae either so not much to go on but it does look nice



Any ideas?

Apart from looking like an Alien creature about to give you a big kiss and suck all the innards out of your body, I can't really help you.

You're too close for comfort if you know what I mean, any chance of another shot taken back a little bit to give a better perspective ?

Edit. Heterobasidion annosum is often distorted like this and when young and wet can be a shiny reddish colour not too dissimilar to this.
