Fairy inkcap or Psathyrella pigmaea for identification?

My dad photographed these mushrooms probably about 5 years ago in our garden on a dead slice of tree trunk by our pond.

Is the only easily identifiable visual difference between Fairy inkcap and Psathyrella pigmaea the 'woolly veil' that grows on young Fairies?

If so this picture may still be ambiguous because you can see tiny white 'grains' which could be the last bits of the veil?



This is such a good photo I might try and upload it to the Gallery if my dad doesn't mind.

I'm not 100% sure but i think these are more likely to be Coprinus micaceus or C.domesticus, not sure of the scale but these look too big for C. disseminatus

right, I'm just looking at the species you've mentioned now. To see the approximate scale I guess you can look at the dead leaves on the tree stump; they're silver birch leaves.

*edit* yeah looking at the descriptions in this book you must be right, they look a little bit too big to be C. disseminatus
