Does this fungus also form a largish bracket if it emerges on the upper surface of logs? I am certain I have photos of it in three forms all together coming out of a beech log at various angles?
I ask as i see a recent pic in the Gallery and made me think of it.

Not sure what you mean by large brackets, as most books seem to suggest 5 cm across the body as about the biggest this get's.
