| | | Unknown Fungi with gills I am still not sure what this is, I belive it is Cortinarius, but not sure, this was a solitary specimen so I didn't pick it, gills were clearly white, and it was found in mixed woodland, near a beech tree, didn't have a strong smell....
This was quite large, even though it is clealry young, it was standing 200mm high and 50-70mm accross, the base of the stem was particularly large, in fact larger than the cap. |

| | | Re: Unknown Fungi with gills Thanks guys, it seems neither of those are in my 2 reference books, which may be how I have struggled to identify them...... thanks for your help. |

| | | Re: Unknown Fungi with gills OK, Got it, thanks Mal, I didn't have much data on this as there was only 1 so I didn't pick it, hence lack of spore print and much detail, it is difficult when searching with little info as I am realising the pictures are really not to be relied on for identification, of course it says this at the front of every book you read, but it is only natural to go by sight as an instinct, especially when you have little else......
I will be sure to make more detailed notes on sight next time.
Thanks to everyones help with this..... I'm learning. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
