| | | Jelly? Russula? and one other ID Help please These were all taken within woodland, mainly Birch but interspersed with Beech and Oak.
This one was about 3cm across with other patches of a similar size dotted on the branch. I think is Phlebia radiata ..
These were under a small Birch in an open patch and I thought that they may be Birch Brittlegill but from Phillips they appear too dark and more like the illustration of Crab Brittlegill - Russula xerampelina ..
These were found (as shown) amongst moss and Birch leaf litter. I thought Clitocybe? because of the largest cap shape (approx 4cm across) and gills (decurrent?) no ring ..
I could be way off and any help is appreciated.

| | | Re: Jelly? Russula? and one other ID Help please Hello,
yes for the first and yes for the third. Clitocybe ditopa is (when that typical) easily recognizable by the pruinose cap margin and the very strong mealy smell (or like cucumber).
No. 2 is a Russula of the Versicolores. Would it have been in Sphagnum I would say R. aquosa, but that seems not probable. So it should be something around atrorubens-fragilis.
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: Jelly? Russula? and one other ID Help please C. ditopa seems a good choice. Phillips only mentions conifer woods, and so does Jordan, but Birch is mentioned on the FRDBI so I'd be happy to go along with this suggestion.

| | | Re: Jelly? Russula? and one other ID Help please Hi gents
Curiosly, I have found C.ditopa frequently with birch (especially recently - lots round here!) , but very seldom with conifers.
