| | | Please help me identify I am a bit of a novice! Bought some good books but having difficulty! Is this perhaps a milkcap or in some books looks like a false chanterelle?
A number of these on edge of woods in grass in Hertfordshire. Sorry about stem missing but is thin and medium brown. Gills whiteish/cream.
Thanks so much |

Welcome to WAB and hope you find it useful.
I would guess you have one of the 'Funnels' - probably Lepista flaccida or possibly Clitocybe gibba.
(A Milkcap would demonstrate definite signs of milky liquid exuding from damage gills etc., and False Chanterelle exhibits a very distinct orange colour to the gills)
Check the Galleries or A to Z for comparison.

| | | Re: Please help me identify Good luck! Now you're 'hooked' you'll find it endlessly, and equally, fascinating and frustrating. Just don't be afraid to ask. |
