Is this Clitocybe geotropa or Lepistra gilva both look similar in my book and grow in same habitate could not detect any smell. Thanks Sylv

So what was the habitat ?

This could even be a Lactarius species, did you check to see if the gills produced 'milk' ?

Neil.

Habitat was edge of deciduous wood in dune slack on sandy siol. Sorry I did not check for milk in gills only just started to try and identify fungi so forget to check the finer pionts.

I've been trying to identify the dried up leaves in your photos - if they are Birch, then it's possible you have Lactarius pubescens, judging by the hairy cap surface, clearly shown when photo is enlarged.
