| | | Confirm as Wood Blewit please I think these are Wood Blewit Lepista nuda rather than L. saeva. They were found growing in groups on a nature reserve which are sand dunes with a lot of Hawthorne and little else. They have a sweet "mushroomy" smell and taste.
They don't seem to have the bulbous base of L. saeva as shown in Phillips but all the caps were very violet as shown.
