Confused by boletes

Hi all

I found these today and I'm certain the ones on the right of the picture are bay boletes.



But what about those on the left hand side. These seem to have a different form factor, sqatter and with a more bulbous stem. So are they also bay boletes, just slightly older? The caps are slightly lighter in colour.

The two centre left seem to have a weaker stem network than the rest, possibilly making those Boletus edulis

I think you needed to slice them open for a positive ID, Boletus badius tends to turn a faint lemon yellow on cutting.

Thanks Steve but I don't think those are edulis, the pores consistently bruise blue which edulis doesn't. The cap flesh bruises vinaceous which supports the badius ID, I'm just surprised about the bulbous stem.

A close-up of the stem may help an ID, but I suspect they are simply squatter versions of badius.
