Is this Bulgaria inquinans
No 2 I cannot find in my book but only have Collins small Nature Guide. Will have to get a better book as I am begining to find fungi interesting.

1 - yes
2 - could well be stereum hirsutum, but others will no doubt expand on that!

You need to get in the habit of providing more information with your post (along with many others), such as smell, texture, spore colour, etc.
Yes the first one is Bulgaria inquinans, and the second one could be Auricularia mesenterica if it is gelatinous (jelly like in texture) it is not gelatinous it is something else.

I will try and make more notes in future but have always been reluctant to touch fungi in case they are poisonous the only one I feel confident about identifying and touching is the common field mushroom. I must be brave and start to examine them more closely.

| | | Re: 2 fungi for ID please Yes, this second photo is not easy, but seeing those slight traces of purple leads me towards Chondrostereum purpureum.
But this is a very early stage, and the purple should be more pronounced, unless heavy rain has washed the colour away.
