| | | Fungus on the beach Coming back from fishing at Dungeness the other day, I spotted a fungus growing directly out of the shingle dunes about 20-30m back from the high water. There are a few salty plants frowing there. Just to be clear: it was growing out of the pebbles.
The fungus was about 4" high, with a straight, white, featureless stalk. The cap was more-or-less flat on top, white with some brown discolouration, and the under-side curved up at the edges to meet the flat top shoing white gills.
Any ideas what this is? Thanks |

| | | Re: Fungus on the beach Hello,
can't be the same as the suggested foto (which is Psathyrella ammophila), because the gills are said to be white.
Without foto there is not much help. May be it Melanoleuca cinerascens, may be it's one of the Leucoagaricus that grow in dunes, may be it's still other thing ...
best regards,
Andreas
