Bolete?
I Drove 10 miles yesterday to what I though may be a good fungi spot and found nothing.

However, today I picked my son up from school round the corner and spotted these.

I think they are boletes.. Pretty grubby examples given the pouring rain we've had. Found dotted around silver birch trees.

Definately has tubes not gills. Stipe is very coarse, but I wouldn't say web like pattern, more like vertical ridges. Also no whitening to the edge of the cap.

only thing that comes to my mind is Leccinum duriusculum. But then should there be a Populus nearby.
