Hello,

this is very likely Gymnopilus junonius. It should have a ring and should be growing on (burried) wood.

Ah, that explains the wood poking out of the ground between the mushrooms. And if you mean a ring as in half way up the stalk then yes they did have that feature. Many thanks indeed.
