Fungus id please Conocybe lactea?

Is this Conocybe lactea?

It seems to fit all the descriptions i have in my book,it was growing out of the pine cone (not out of the ground through the cone)

The tallest one was about 5-6 cms high and all were white in coulour.

Theres not very many Conocybe lactea in the Gallery? is it hard to find or have they gone and changed the name?

Hi Keith
Conocybe lactea is a grassland species. Mycena galopus var alba grows on needle litter and although I have never found it actually on a cone I would not be surprised to find it there. Did you take a picture of the gills by any chance?

Unfortunatley not Mal

Ive just looked up your suggestion and it certainly fits the description better than Conocybe lactea

(note to myself, take more detailed pictures!! )
