| | | Coniferous or broadleaf woodland The hubby & I are planning to go on our own little 'fungus foray' tomorrow (not for eating or anything like that, just looking & photographing )
Can anyone suggest where we would be most likely to find the largest variety - in a coniferous or broadleaf woodland or doesn't it matter?

| | | Re: Coniferous or broadleaf woodland Hi Claire, I live near woodland that is mainly coniferous but has areas that are mixed and deciduous. I tend to find a lot of fungi in coniferous or mixed woodland, probably as there is very little undergrowth other than needle litter, making the fungi easier to spot. At this time of the year there is a lot of leaf litter in deciduous woods but the fungi are there, just harder to see.

i find that beech woods are better for access, as not much of anything seems to grow in them (apart from fungi),
