| | | Possible Ascocoryne cylichnium Following on from the abject failure at identification earlier I'm going for Ascocoryne cylichnium with this one. Found growing on an Oak stump. No passing the buck on this one, identification or mis identification is all my own although credit for the spot has to go to Dave Monk (Looking). |

Have you another image Mike?

| | | Re: Possible Ascocoryne cylichnium Hello,
the whole shape of the fruitbody is not like Ascocoryne. Here are no cups, but ribbon- to brain-like structure, a little bit similar to Sparassis laminosa.
Put it to the microscope, you will not see any asci!
best regards,
Andreas

John | Dave has some. It was quite difficult to get a decent shot as the low sun was shining through the fungus making it appear lighter. I've got one I took with the wide angle which also puts it into context. When we first saw it it looked a lot darker but the sun brought out the colour. |

I was berating myself today for forgetting to take my grey card for white balance but I think this is pretty close.

| | | Re: Possible Ascocoryne cylichnium Hi all,
Just got round to finding this thread.
Here is my photo of said fungi if it helps in any way.
Is it fare to say that this one is dieing off then since it is dry and dark looking.
What I would normally call Leafy Brain - Tremella foliacea is more like this one I found and photographed 2 days later.
