Hi, this is my first post on the forum. I have been confidently identifying some of the easier species, various boletes, chanterelles, hedgehogs, yellow brittlegills, amethyst deceivers etc, backed up by numerous books and a local mycologist (may I add!) and have been browsing this forum for a while and thought it would be a great resource to help me start broadening my limited knowledge.
So here's the first one (which I'm fairly confident about)...
Jelly (Jew's) Ear (Auricularia auricula-judae)

Growing on dead elder, gelatinous, greyish-brown and wrinkled inside.
The second one I'm not so sure about but suggest that it may be a Wood Blewit (Lepista nuda)

However, the ones I've seen on organised forays (with an expert) and in my reference books are much chunkier than this with a bulbous stem.
The colour seems spot on. Lilac fibrous stem, brown cap with lilac edging and lilac gills.
The cap is only 45mm in diameter and I don't get the aromatic/perfumed smell which most of my books mention.
I have not taken a spore print.
The fungi was growing alone and not in a troop so I could not refer to any others at different growth stages to help with ID.
I know that these will be very easy fungi for you experts to identify but a beginner's got to start somewhere and I am a very cautious beginner which I think is a good way to be when trying to identify fungi!
Look forward to reading your replies.
P.S. I will try to improve on my photographic skills for future posts!
