Agreed Jenny, it's fairly common practice with fungi, especially if you want to get a spore print or do any microscopy. Most forayers take a few samples home even if they are not collecting for the pot.

IMO the OP has just asked if this is a death cap, or have I got it wrong, that’s all. I cannot see the harm in that.
