| | | Yellow cap fungi pos. a shield help please These were growing at the base of a log in mixed woodland of mainly beech/birch. Approx 4cm tall with the cap varying from about 8mm to the largest at 1.5cm. Didn't seem to smell of anything.
This was growing close by but I am not sure if same species the cap is about 2.5cm across.
I think they may be Yellow Shield - Pluteus chrysophaeus
Thanks JohnB |

I think you are correct. For both collections.
A species I have never come across up to now! I only see Pluteus leoninus ....
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: Yellow cap fungi pos. a shield help please Andreas, have you lost your magic, surely these are just Bolbitius titubans ?
Neil.
Edit. No, it's just me getting tired, sorry.

| | | Re: Yellow cap fungi pos. a shield help please Hello,
very similar looking to Bolbitius titubans, indeed, and this was my first thought too. But besides the different cuticule, you can see in two of the pictures that the fungi have free gills. So they must be Pluteus species and Bolbitius is excluded.
best regards,
Andreas
