| | | Some for ID please. Wow, they're everywhere! So many I'm giving myself a headache trying to work out what they could be, so I need some help
First, these were found in several places in my patch, in leaf litter, muscling in on troops of LBJ's.
This is a rather handsome little thing, almost velvety surface, growing beside the footpath with river on one side and alder on the other. It was in grass on the river side.
I'm really not sure about this one. It was solitary, growing under young beech, with yet more of the above orange things and LBJ's. (sorry about the poor quality on the gill view)
And lastly, but by no means least, these are growing outside my flat, all around the pampas grass, forming a loose circle about 9 ft in diameter. There are birches very close by (with their own spectacularly colourful display of fungi, but no fly agaric). I hope it's not a problem one.
Many thanks. It's been a good day today

| | | Re: Some for ID please. Geoff if you look at the first shot you'll see the stipe on one of them, it's almost white. Doesn't cortinaria sanguineus has the blood red stipe? |

| | | Re: Some for ID please. I am taking spore prints of all except the third one, which, as it was solitary, I left in situ. Results later if needed. Must go and feed people now. |

| | | Re: Some for ID please. The first one looks more like a Russula to me - don't know which. The second must be Pluteus cervinus. The third is an Agaricus, again, don't know which, and the fourth looks like the Brown Rollrim, Paxillus involutus. |

| | | Re: Some for ID please. Hi,
I'd suggest Melanoleuca polioleuca for number 2 though I've never actually found a specimen myself. The gills on your example are adnate unlike those of Pluteus sp which are free from the stipe.
3 - Agaricus sp which would likely require microscopy to identify
4 - I agree, looks like the common roll rim, Paxillus involutus, to me.

| | | Re: Some for ID please. I did think of Pluteus Cervinus, but it had a flatter cap than that, compared to others I've found elsewhere. |

| | | Re: Some for ID please. Thanks Ergot, going by the book, Melanoleuca polioleuca does look more likely. |

Pluteus cervinus would be growing on wood with free gills
