| | | Which Parasol Mushroom I think that these are the common Parasol Mushroom Macrolepiota procera.
Is my ID correct?

| | | Re: Which Parasol Mushroom The Parasol Mushroom (Macrolepiota procera) should have a snakeskin pattern on the stipe below the ring. The Shaggy Parasol (Chlorophyllum rhacodes) has no such markings. I can see no markings on your photos therefore the Shaggy Parasol it is.

| | | Re: Which Parasol Mushroom Hi Mal,
Thanks for the response again.
One of the limitations of low res digital images is they don't show all the detail.
This is a crop from the earlier photo of just the stype. Is this snakeskin like?
Thanks,

| | | Re: Which Parasol Mushroom I can see what Mal is getting at - from the original post I didn't think I could see much of the snakeskin effect and was starting to think about some of the other Macrolepiota species (about 10 in the UK) . . .
I'm now convinced by the middle and right hand images as somewhat atypical procera - that distinctly double-ring is characteristic
but were all the images taken at the same time? because the left hand one is much more reminiscent of rachodes i.e. Chlorophyllum brunneum

Thanks for your comments.
All the images were taken at the same time (yesterday morning) and within 100m or so of each other.

If you look at the small photo in the A-Z for Macrolepiota procera you will see what it can be like. Although yours is not as distinctive I think (unless it is another of the 10) there is enough marking to make procera a good choice.

Chris | they could still be different - the habitat looks different? - it would be interesting to see how the left-hand one develops
