| | | A Good (but very wet) Day ! A few of the finds from today's foray with North West Fungus Group.
Intermittent & occasionally very heavy showers, together with strong blustery winds made for slightly heavy going, but with the variety of finds, the weather was the last thing on people's minds: -
Pink Waxcap - Hygrocybe calyptriformis (One that's been on my "wants" list for some time ).
Butter Waxcap - Hygrocybe ceracea (Another from the "wants" list).
Hygrocybe yet to be confirmed - (possibly coccinea /reidii).
Meadow Waxcap - Hygrocybe pratensis
Golden Spindles - Clavulinopsis fusiformis
As yet unidentified (salmon coloured) spindles

I'm jealous, in spite of the rain, because I couldn't make it today because of pile of paperwork I've had to do.
Your red waxcaps are unlikley to be H. reidii. I think H. coccinea is much nearer the mark.
I'd hope someone was checking the spores of the possible Clavulinopsis fusiformis because it can often turn out to be C. helvola, which can grow quite tall.
The orange colour and white tips of the other Clavulinopsis suggest to me C. luteoalba, but again microscopy would be needed to be sure of this.

Ken | agree with the proviso, but that sure looks like luteoalba to me

I think someone may have taken samples for microscopy, but when they are issued, I won't be able to tie the ID results down to this specific photo. Quote:

So this one should be able to be pinned down when the results are issued.
