| | | Tiny One for ID (Possibly Collybia sp. ? ) Found today growing amongst a pile of raked up and rotting herbage in mixed woodland.
Possibly rotting bracken stem substrate, but not at all sure.
All were very tiny, max cap diameter 2-3mm, max stipe length about 12mm
Very pale orangy/pink tinge to caps, with noticably darker orange around margins & stipes.
Never seen anything like these before, so fingers crossed that an ID from the photos will be possible.
Any ID suggestions/proposals very welcome.
Regards,
Mike.

I assume from the photo that these are growing on a dead bracken stem, which would point to Mycena pterigena. (This species grows on decaying ferns, including Pteridium aquilinum.)

Ken | bang on Ken! and shame on me for not carefully reading all of Mike's original post
this is a species I have never seen, and I am very envious (I look at bracken a lot as well )
note to self - must try harder . . .
Chris

That's a great result. - I found these tiny things particularly photogenic, and was less than convinced that a full species ID would be possible just from photos. Quote:
