| | | Help and pointers with ID on these I don't suppose these are anything exciting ...
1.  2.  3.
What I would appreciate is what is it in each case that gives you the ID on these. As I start out on trying to be able to recognise the major genera any help would be appreciated.

1 look like young Clitocybe, sturdy ones at that so may well turn out to be one of the larger Species which are really impressive when mature.
I cant help with the others though sorry. S.B.J's (small brown jobs) it takes experience and or a microscope to nail these. Two things i dont have yet.

| | | Re: Help and pointers with ID on these As Alex states, the first will develop into a large Clitocybe- a large white Clitocybe could well be C. geotropa or if it turns out a little orange/tan, may turn out to be C. gibba.

Nick | ... or it could be Clitocybe nebularis looking a bit washed out. There does seem to be some colour in the cap but it's hard to tell from the photo. |

| | | Re: Help and pointers with ID on these In my experience (which is overshadowed by yours quite some way  ) C. nebularis generally tends to show more cap expansion and development at this height rather than the two aforementioned Clitocybe species- here's a photograph of what I mean;
Let's wait and see what it turns out to b- always the way eh?

'tends to', being the operative phrase. It can appear as in the photo, whereas C. gibba I would rule out on overall appearance. C. geotropa is certainly an option, but as you suggest we'll have to leave it at that for now. |

Nick | I suppose this means a quick trip back is called for to see how they are getting on
This is from a slightly different angle - don't know if it helps .. seems to show pale yellow at the top of the stem.
