| | | This one's bugging me... Probably a mycena needing a spore print for 100% ID, but the colour intrigues me, would it get any closer to an ID? |

| | | Re: This one's bugging me... I think it's one of the Psathyrella species, such as P. corrugis, that have a red edge to the gill. You can see this more clearly in the field if you use a hand lens, but it is also visible in a squash of a gill viewed through the microscope. There isn't enough information in the photo to give a firm identification to species though. |

| | | Re: This one's bugging me... I went back and got another one of these from the same spot. It has a blackish (or extremely dark purple) spore print, and it is hygrophanous and drying paler.
Going by the habitat, open woodland, though across the river from the beech woods, more alder, in open grass beside a path, and the spore print, I'd like to think it's the more unusual psathyrella bipellis, rather than p. corrugis, but the second is more likely.
Thanks for that, this has been a good exercise in identification for me, a mere beginner. I've learned a lot from this little fungus | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
