| | | :) A few fungi for ID help, please. A selection photographed in west Berkshire over the last couple of weeks... As ever, help with or confirmation of ID much appreciated.
1. On Elder log at edge of mixed woodland; I thought perhaps Clitopilus prunulus, The Miller?
2. Trametes versicolor, Turkey-tail?
3. Hypholoma sp? (At first I thought H. fasciculare, but then I was unsure - cap shape didn't seem to be right.)
4.
5. This specimen was pretty nibbled and elderly, but I wondered if it was Pseudoclitocybe cyathiformis, The Goblet?
6. Lastly, growing in mixed (mainly oak, beech, birch) woodland, under holly tree; I thought perhaps Amanita virosa, Destroying Angel? Not very good pictures, apologies.

I don`t think Clitopilus prunulus grows on wood but no.1 might be Pleurotus dryinus.
Cheers

Pete | Yes, I'd agree with Pleurotus dryinus. Clitopilus prunulus would not have the remains of a partial veil on the edge of the cap and round the stem either.
Number 2 is Trametes versicolor.
I think number 3 is, as suggested, Hypholoma sp.
Number 4 is Clitocybe nebularis.
Number 5 is Lactarius turpis.
Number 6 is Amanita citrina var. alba. The volva is not right for Amanita virosa. |

| | | Re: :) A few fungi for ID help, please. Hi M.W.N.N
I would have expected a mature example of C. nebularis to be more depressed in the centre of the cap. I am no expert but No4 doesn`t look quite right for Clouded Funnel.
Cheers

I must agree it does seem to be on the 'flimsy' side, but I'm still confident it's Clitocybe nebularis.

Try looking at a range of photos of more mature specimens on the web to get a feel for the variety in form. It's not a typical funnel cap in that it doesn't necessarily go depressed in the centre with age. |

I actually took a series of pictures last year which prove me to be completely and absolutely wrong.
Must try harder
