Type of bracket fungus

These were spotted on the Quantocks in Somerset 4th October growing on live and dead birch. Quite large, honey colour on top, almost pure white underneath. Any suggestions? Is the fungus identifier on this site as difficult to use as it appears? Can't there be a filter to narrow down the images by size, location, colour etc?

Thanks for quick response, I'll look that up in references to see if it is. They aren't rare, I see several, but want to be able to say what they are if anybody asks!

Looked at some pictures, you are probably right, though there seems to be quite a range of colouring in the specimens shown.

Charleib is right and yes they are quite variable. Fresh they look like your find but as they age the upper surface becomes darker but can turn more grey in colour.
