| | | Help with ID - bolete Hi, all.
I found these rather odd looking boletes (I think) on a common outside Newbury in Sunday. Growing amongst tree stumps and foxgloves in fairly open ground (a ride cleared through birch/oak/mixed woodland). Can anyone give me any suggestions? |

| | | Re: Help with ID - bolete Hello,
You have Boletus parasiticus there, growing from the base of the common earthball - Sceroderma citrinum.
The tubes seem very shallow, but I must admit I've never paid much attention to the tube length before, so this may be normal.

The tubes can often be quite small with Boletus (Pseudoboletus) parasiticus.

| | | Re: Help with ID - bolete Thank you both!
I thought the bolete seemed to be growing in association with what looked like an earthball - just couldn't quite work out why that would be. Are fungi parasitising other fungi common? |
