Fungal ID help please

Hi all

Great site, been looking for a while and decided to take the plunge and post with a post and some help needed.

Found some Boletus today while out on Chobham Common, Surrey.

Brown Cap 7 - 15 cm across, White stipe, substaintal 3-4cm diameter -with webbing, yellow pores - not staining blue on bruising.

Habitat - Under silver birch and pine woodland

I thought they might be Birch Bolete, but the pores do not bruise

Help please...

Hi Lewis
I think you have Boletus edulis the Cep. Although the stem looks a little like Boletus badius there should be some bluing of the pores on damage. It is certainly not the Brown Birch Bolete (Leccinum scabrum) as this has a stem covered with black squamules (small scales).

Can Ceps have a lemony yellow pore surface?

Also it does not bruise blue or discolour.

The pores of B edulis start out white then become yellow and end up green and they don't bruise blue. The flesh of the cap can sometimes show a pink hue on cutting.
