| | alder leaf rust? Firstly, apologies Chris, couldnt find fungal plant parasites, so new thread for this.
Secondly, is it a fungus!?
On fairly old damp on the ground Alder leaf yesterday, looks a bit like a rust, maybe Phragmidium spp?
Then again, thats just a wild card from me............
Cheers
Ken

| | | Re: alder leaf rust? hi Ken
is that an alder leaf? - certainly not the native Alnus glutinosa - it's not a fungus, it's an eriophyid mite gall (an 'erineum'); knowing the exact host would be useful: might it be grey alder Alnus incana?; if it is an Alnus the most likely gall causer would be Acalitus brevitarsus - though the main book on galls does not comment about galls on hosts other than the native alder "due to lack of knowledge"
the plant parasites thread is on page 2 - though I'm about to post something on it soon, so it will move
cheers
Chris
